4.5 SPAcE

The Special Program for Academic English (SPAcE) represents LEC’s contribution to Okayama University’s Global Human Resource Development Program (G course). The G course was initiated during the 2013 academic year with 53 students and in 2016 the maximum number of students on the course will be 100.

The general aim of this curriculum is to provide students with language skills enabling them to participate in academic and professional activities on a global level. To this end, the program offers opportunities to students to enhance their ability to communicate in English with ease and confidence in a variety of cultural contexts, to develop academic English skills, and to attain the TOEFL scores required for study abroad and future professional activities. In addition to teaching the curriculum, SPAcE teachers meet students in the G course in the second and fourth quarters for individual counseling.
